I was looking for a new flip-up helmet. If you've ever been caught in a thunderstorm or downpour while cycling, you know what it feels like to not have a visor and your vision is drastically affected by wearing a half helmet. Half helmets are great in summer as they are cool and you can hear the road better. However, not all helmets are the same. So after that introduction, here are my requirements: 1. flip-up visor2. Lightweight, offers maximum protection3. Minimum"mushroom head"4. Fits well, does not float up and down when riding. After realizing I couldn't find this helmet in stock anywhere, I settled on another brand that looked like it would fit the bill. However, when I received it, it was HUGE! Much larger than my current helmet. I looked like Darth Vador from Spaceballs. So I returned it. I looked at many other helmets and read all the reviews. In the end I decided the Vega was the only one I wanted and was willing to wait until they were back on sale, even if that meant going without the flip up visor for the rest of the summer. Luckily I didn't have to wait long and Revain sent them back a few weeks later. Seen and cheered to buy. Received yesterday and tried today. I have to say that I was not disappointed. At first it looked great. The fit was perfect and was feather light but well made. It comes with a detachable chin strap and an adjustable headband for a comfortable fit. The helmet didn't float and the chin strap choked me while riding. It was so light I barely felt like I was wearing it. The fold-down visor provided excellent protection from the sun. (I also bought a clear one for night riding at a great price). bottom line; It was a home run and I was 120% happy with this helmet. My only reservation was the ending of the painting. I enjoy working with paint and was wondering if a coat or two of clear acrylic would provide better protection from fading etc. It's a flat finish and I'm used to having a glossy finish on helmets. But that's not enough to distract from all the helmet's great features.
