I have had an original ESCORT Passport for many years and love the high-quality workmanship. However, I recently learned the hard way from the Florida Highway Patrol that it doesn't work with LIDOR (a detection system that works like radar but uses light from a laser). I bought a new Passport and found that it doesn't recognize LIDOR either. I don't know of any radar detector that reacts in time to a momentary laser beam aimed at you. I returned to the seller. Luckily I've only encountered LIDOR on the Florida Turnpike, but I'm sure larger police departments and municipalities will get it. Aside from the inability to detect LIDOR, my old passport is a fantastic "radar detector".
