Let me start by saying that we are currently using this dome for our mini rex rabbit. She is about half the size of a normal house cat. At first she was suspicious of him, but now she uses him with ease and is not afraid of him at all. The top dome fits perfectly with the base. It doesn't latch or anything so it's easy to take it off. For that reason I'm not sure if I would recommend it for a feral or large pet, but it works great for our rabbit. The base is big enough for them and there is enough bedding. It doesn't deodorize anything, but since it's covered it traps any smell in the dome. The ramp has steps and a small wall at the top to keep debris and debris out. . We only use 30 gallon unscented and chemical free garbage bags for liners and they fit great. There is no clip or locking mechanism for the balaclava, but it stays in place when folded over the edges of the base. If you have a larger animal, the handle has enough room for some to put a heavy object in to attach the top to the base. However, I had no trouble with the top staying in place as our pet climbed in and out of the tray. Ultimately, this product does what it says on the tin and I'm very happy with it. I would definitely recommend this.
