This hair straightener is a bit different from the one I used before. The on/off switch is inside the iron where the plates are located, as is the temperature controller. It's not on the outside like most straighteners. I wish they were out, if they were I could give this iron a 5 star rating. As we all know, an iron can get very hot. So if you turn it on and try to set the temperature, you have to be careful not to burn your fingers in the process. It has a lock so it can stay closed when not in use. It also has quite a long cord, I haven't used the steam part of the iron yet but I'm sure it's a nice addition. Overall this is a good iron, just needs a few tweaks to make it a great iron.
