Unreliable on sports and handheld GPS

Might be a bad machine but my 530 has 3 annoying problems 1. While driving the entire unit shuts down and restarts. No data is lost, but that means I have to stop riding, wait for a reset, and then start a new ride with the 530. 2. Sometimes the device doesn't reset but only captures part of my ride. 3. I've had several trips where a data file got corrupted and I had to manually repair the file on my computer. Please note that I have an MTB kit and have only used it on trails. I now have Strava on my phone in addition to the 530. No issues with Strava so at least I have a backup of my trip. I would really like to return it while it was in the Amazon return period. I think I'm stuck on this lemon. Not even the extra weight on the steering wheel

Pros
  • Good for many
Cons
  • Easily repairable
