We bought two of these for a recent trip to Paris. One was used to power the CPAP machine, charge an iPhone 4 and two iPads overnight each night. The device stood next to the bed and everything was plugged in overnight. CPAP was connected to the converter 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The inverter fan noise was quieter than the CPAP. It was just white noise that helps some people fall asleep. We left the second block in the common area of our apartment for our friends and son to plug any of their devices into. We will always be able to connect smartphones, mobile phones, chargers, iPods, iPads, CPAP machines or tablets to the converters. Never had problems with converters not working or overheating. Fan noise was quiet and unobtrusive. Charge times for all connected devices were the same as if they were plugged into a US outlet. The devices were small enough and light enough to be packed in hand luggage. Even an accidental drop from a tabletop onto a wooden floor did not affect the performance of the converters. Advantages: Small, quiet, robust, reliable. all adapters with converter unless you keep the box or use the bag. The power button can be easily disabled when you connect some USB devices.
