My cats have been using a basic open litter box since I've had them both which has been a big problem. Trash everywhere (foosball bitches/excessive digging), unsightly, no privacy (bitch has been a bit mischievous lately), etc. Also, my cats are huge. My male is about 10 pounds while my female is about 15 pounds and still growing (maine coon mix) so finding a big enough litter box is difficult. Anyway, I decided to have a covered litter box so the litter box doesn't get kicked EVERYWHERE. and also give my husband more privacy from his pushy little sister. I chose this box because of the size, the fact that the lid snaps in and out (absolutely amazing), and the great reviews. Arrived quite quickly and well packaged. I was concerned because I'm in Alaska, but there was no damage. To my surprise, it comes with an odor control vent and some sort of padding, as well as a very comfortable handle on top! My favorite part is the lid as it opens halfway to give easy access to the spoon. It has also helped transform my cats from an open box to a closed one. I opened the lid, put them in the box a few times so they knew what they were, then waited. Once they both used it (it took a couple of days) I snapped the lid off and that was it. They both love it so much I bought another one today to replace our crate below. (It's also larger than her size.) When it's time to empty the box, just open the lid all the way and then empty it. Definitely buy this if you have big cats!
