Incredibly easy and convenient plug-and-play USB microphone Ideal for recording voice directly to your computer

I needed a fast and portable microphone for a lecture series I was giving over the internet. After some research I went ahead and bought the Snowball thinking it was the best simple plug and play option. I am very happy with my purchase. I use Snowball on my iMac and MacBook. Installation and installation of drivers are not provided. It just works. I plugged the USB cable into my computer, the red light on the mic came on, the Mac even automatically changed the input setting to the snowball mic, and I got very clear sound straight away. Immediately, people on the other end of the talk noticed how much better the sound got when I started using the Snowball compared to a headset or a built-in mic on a computer. There are only three different "settings” to choose from. with the switch on the back of the spherical microphone body. Position 1. Turns on the cardioid capsule: speech, singing, podcasting. Position 2. Including cardioid capsule with -10 dB PAD: live music, loud sound sources. Interviews, environmental photographs. So now I have a plug and play mic for my computer that works for recording voiceovers, lectures and podcasts (cardioid), but I can also take it to meetings and use it as an omnidirectional conference mic for meeting recordings. It should be noted that this microphone is USB powered and needs to be connected to a computer, therefore it is only suitable for recording directly to a computer via USB. The form factor is attractive and easy to carry. I also bought a pop screen and shock absorber. The pop filter helps eliminate air movement pop when speaking into the microphone, especially when using tones such as p, flat, t, etc. The shock-absorbing mount allows the microphone to "levitate" in the air suspended on elastic straps, protecting the microphone from shock and rumble from the table. Because my microphone is on the same table as the keyboard, computer, and meeting participants, this was necessary to get a relatively quiet recording. Installing the pop filter and shock absorber couldn't be simpler. No instructions were needed as it was intuitive and easy.

Pros
  • Plug 'n Play on Mac and PC - Start recording quickly and easily with no drivers required on Mac and PC.
Cons
  • Low maintainability
