I've been looking for a good aerator for some time and finally decided on this one despite the lack of reviews. When I bought an aerator I wanted something that didn't require two hands to aerate wine like the very popular Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator. Yes, you can buy a Vinturi stand, but it takes up more space. By those criteria, it was somewhere between Soiree and the Metrokane Rabbit aerator. I didn't choose the Soiree because the portion that attaches to the wine bottle wasn't constricted to accommodate different sizes of wine bottle openings, as one reviewer pointed out. That was it between Rabbit and Centellino. I ended up going with this design because it looked more stylish than the rabbit because it was glass (although it was more expensive). After ordering, I received the aerator very quickly. I live in Hawaii so shipping usually takes a week or more, but the folks at Centellino were able to get my aerator to me quicker than Revain could send me some of my other items that I ordered at the same time. .This aerator aerates wine in two stages. First you pour wine into a bottle. Here the wine is carbonated. Second, pour carbonated wine into your glass. This may be an issue for some, as it takes about two of these bulbs to fill a typical glass of wine. The bulb seems to hold about 2-3 ounces. If it's a deal breaker I'll probably try using a rabbit aerator. However, for some it can be a good way to measure how much wine they consume (although this can always be done by the number of glasses of wine they consume). As for the device itself. Room for a row of bottle holes. (The taper isn't that dramatic, so it doesn't work for very large bottlenecks) - Also used to preserve your wine if you can't finish the bottle. It comes with a small plug to close the aerator spout - Made from glass to look nice - Comes in a nice aerator storage box. Cons: - Made of glass. May break if dropped or mishandled. The small stopper for my aerator is loose. Fits but not as tight as I would like. However, I don't plan on leaving the aerator on the bottle if I have to leave a bottle of wine the next day, so I'm not worried about that. - Does not allow continuous pouring of wine into the glass as described above. .- Costs a little more than most aerators. However, it is made of glass, which justifies part of the cost. In general, I can say that it works great. Although I haven't tried other aerators I can say it works. The main purpose of an aerator is to aerate the wine by maximizing the surface area of the wine exposed to air, allowing the wine to breathe and do its job.
