I was pleasantly surprised when the water in my 800 gallon goldfish pond went completely clear in about 3 weeks after I placed one of them in a gravity flow biological pebble and gravel filter positioned to allow the Water coming out of the filter flows through charcoal. The first had to be replaced within a week, the next almost 2 weeks and the third almost 3 weeks before every piece of charcoal in the bag looked covered in something. At this point the water in the pond was crystal clear and I only had to change the charcoal bags every 3-4 weeks. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly with a garden hose as they are full of black charcoal dust. I ordered more as replacements and threw away the used ones.
