I bought this specifically to cut it down for use in carpeted doors. I recently moved in with my boyfriend and now we live with four cats. I've had issues with my own cats completely tearing up the carpet around my bedroom door in my old house. They didn't like being locked in and really wanted to make sure I got a message every morning when they decided it was time for breakfast. His cats were just as stubborn, so we knew we had to do something to protect the new place. With at least 3 door openings for protection, I needed a roll that I could easily cut through. The preset lines between the teeth were ideal for this. We cut to the desired width, placed it in the door frame, then used a sturdy jackknife to mark the contours of the door frame and scissors for the heavier cutting work. I am happy to report that we have had them for a few weeks now and they are working great! No slipping, jerking or other movements, neither from cat play nor from normal human movements. When the cats realized they could no longer reach him, they gave up altogether. Problem solved, great product. Highly recommended.
