I have used Eagle America and CMT Cymbal Carving Bits (with top bearings). While they were pretty good they seemed to wear out fairly quickly and the Eagle America Bit Lock had a tendency to loosen during use and I'm here to tell you that you wouldn't like to experience that. The Freud bit chewed through a little more hardwood than other bits with the same smooth cutting power as the day I received it. The upper bearing is held in place by a locking pin that fits into a groove in the shaft just above the bearing. There is no screw to vibrate loose or stick with superglue. This means the bearing stays in place, ensuring your cuts are smooth and even. I would recommend this bat to anyone making bowls or trays.
