We purchased these curtains to hang above a window a.c. unit that stays in the window year-round (it's like 100lb, we're not moving it!) During the winter months, we get some cold air coming in despite our best efforts to insulate the a.c. unit both inside and out. We ordered the 95" long curtains, which start about four inches above the window and drop to the floor. By the next day, we could tell that room was warmer after being closed all night. Definitely helping to keep the cold air out. It also covers the a.c. unit nicely, since we got a curtain rod that comes out a few inches from the wall. If you buy these, just note that they're pretty heavy, so you'll want a sturdy rod.
