We have mixed feelings about this tree. It conforms to the product description, is very durable and seems like it will take several years for our cats to destroy it. That is, if they ever do anything with it other than sleep on it. Yes, that's why we have mixed feelings. Our old, sick cat used to sleep in our bed, but now he prefers to sleep in a soft bed. All night. We need to touch it to make sure we don't have a dead cat in it, it's so convenient and happy. We miss him when he sleeps with us. Our other cats also seem to think this is the perfect place to sleep. Our imposter Maine Coon prefers to sleep in the apartment, while our other cat only sleeps on the 3rd shelf. We have slept with cats for so many years that we have trouble sleeping without unconsciously adjusting to the small warm bodies around us. If you want your cats to sleep with you, this scratching post is not for you. So far none of our cats have scratched it, which surprises us as they love to scratch sisal rope covered scratching posts. They just nap on it or sit on it and look out the windows. The instructions were terrible but thanks to the reviews we read we were able to figure it out and put it together in under an hour. If this one ever wears out because cats do nothing but sleep on it, we'll definitely be buying another one.
