The small one fits my cat but the tabby sister would be a bit tight so we order a medium size. It's a little lost on a tabby cat, but if we pull the straps about halfway, it will fit her. The main difference between a small harness and a medium harness is the length of the harness that runs along the cat's spine. The small harness has a gap of only 1 1/2 inches between the front and back loops (total length of the connecting strap is 2 1/2 inches). The center harness has a 3" and 1/4" gap between the front and back loops (the overall connection strap is 4" and 1/4"). So if you have a cat with larger shoulders or a longer body, use the center harness. . The small one is for very small cats or large kittens. The front loop of the little one can be adjusted from 6 to 9 inches, the back loop can be from 8 to 13 inches. The average front loop is 8 to 14 inches and the back loop is 11 to 19 inches. Clasps are great as they make these straps much easier to put on and take off. It can take time to get our cats into harnesses, but once we've done it, they'll be comfortable in them in minutes. You can play and move freely. The straps are soft and fit snugly on the chest, back and stomach. They're great for keeping your pet safe when traveling (make sure you buy the right leash), although I still recommend a carrier because if your cat doesn't want to go with you, it's awful to carry . Idea. They are also good for allowing house cats to have a safe time outdoors. I use it with an RC leash to take a tabby kitten to the yard of an apartment near a parking lot. She doesn't walk like a dog, but she loves sniffing bushes, chasing moths and wallowing in the grass.
