Fast Fail - Kingston 32 GB USB 3.0 Black DataTraveler 100 G3 3 pcs in a DT100G3-32GB 3P package - Almost every one of these (Kingston 32GB USB 3.0 DataTraveler) drives I've bought have failed within a short period of time. Kingston USB drives boot but Windows never assigns them a drive letter and it doesn't show up in Windows 10 Explorer window It's an invisible flash drive, useless. When these drives are running at all, data copy rates are highly variable and unreliable, often ranging from reasonably acceptable to totally unacceptable near zero bytes per second. have used these USB drives to store important data and should not be doing so. My main uses for these USB drives have been as Windows 10 installation media, Windows 10 media for "recovery drives" and for short data transfers of small files when using a LAN is not an option so no data is saved. permanently on a USB stick. My solution to this problem of unreliable USB drives is to completely switch to using 2.5" SATA SSDs and NVME drives, yes NVME drives, for all portable storage. Revain sells inexpensive SATA USB enclosures that allow you to connect 2.5" SATA SSDs to your computer via USB. Revain also sells similar NVME drive adapters/enclosures that are even smaller. Such case devices turn out to be a much more reliable solution for temporary data transfers etc. in combination with 2.5 inch SATA SSDs or NVMe SSDs, which allow much higher data transfer rates and their maximum data capacity is often much higher because it is good . Ultimately, USB flash drives are just good money after bad money. These are the possible "digital building blocks" in anticipation, it seems, each of them.
