I used this to knock concrete off 6 fence posts that I was planning to replace. The handle broke after about 10 minutes of use. After investigating the fault, the handle broke because it was supported by a very thin piece of metal bent at a 90 degree angle. The force of the impact pushes the device back toward the operator and the way the piece of metal is positioned, the recoil causes the metal to bend more and more and simply snap off. Then the pen has nothing to lean on and is therefore unusable. I was able to cut out a piece of wood to put it there for my project and for the most part it worked. I'll have to make a new piece of wood if I plan to use this again. There is a large rubber protector on the shaft which appears to be heat resistant (that's what has the holes in the product image; that part is rubber), I was able to comfortably hold this rubber bushing without work gloves before making the piece of wood to get the handle works again. Everything else about this thing gets incredibly HOT for obvious reasons! For example, burn yourself for a few seconds. Like I said, the instructions leave a lot to be desired. There are many pointers to oiling the machine at all times and they even include an Allen key to open the oil section, with a picture of the section and how to remove the bolts. On the device itself is a prominent image of an oil can with a circle and a line through it, indicating that oil cannot be poured here. I'm assuming that this guide probably comes with a different model that doesn't need oil? The instructions seem to imply that it still needs to be lubricated with some sort of motor oil every few months, but I'm really not sure. The case that comes with it is of very poor quality. One of the clips doesn't even stay on mine because the piece of plastic it's supposed to snap into is too big so the clip just falls out when it's not snapped into place. slightly larger than the device itself, so it rattles even when closed and latched in the case. In short, this is definitely the cheapest demo hammer you can get and you will definitely notice it when you use it. It might work for you if you're a little finicky and have the patience to get it working again. For a 2 day RENT of a jackhammer at my local hardware store you can pick up a "good enough" demo hammer for small odd jobs.
