I bought this SSD HD to replace and upgrade my daughter's HP Pavilion laptop (original HD was a traditional Segate 5400rpm 500GB SATA II HD laptop). years due to newer Windows operating systems (migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10) and new requirements for current software. Needless to say, this is very annoying for someone trying to get their schoolwork done. PROS: Nothing but praise CONS: Absolutely none Recommended additional software and tools to update your hard drive with: - (Necessary if you're not starting the OS from scratch) Use Macrium Reflect 7 Free Edition (just do a google search to find it). Clone your old hard drive to a new one. This is a simple download that installs on your existing hard drive to create an exact clone of your new one. The best thing about the free version is that it doesn't cost a penny. - (Required if you are not cloning a desktop, then optional) Use this USB to SATA connection cable Sabrent USB 3.0 SSD / 2.5" SATA HDD Adapter [SSD Optimized, Support UASP SATA III] (EC-SSHD) for only $10 clone a new drive. Of course, if it's a desktop computer, it's not needed, but 95% of laptops do! - (Optional if you already have a similar tool kit) If you change the hard drive on these new laptops (within the last 4 years), I would buy this Soucolor 78 tool kit in 1 Precision Screwdriver Set, Magnetic Driver Set, Repair Tool Kits with portable Case for iPad, iPhone, Tablets, Laptops, PC, Smart Phones, Watches, disassemble the electronics to access the hard drive, especially for those who need a plastic tool, can't go wrong for $20. After I installed the new SSD, the difference was literally night and day, booting from the BIOS into the OS (Windows 10) was almost literally instantaneous (I'd say give or take 5-10 seconds), application response times and everything else The action as a whole was also instantaneous. no compatibility issues with SSD. Please note: This HD is about $50 cheaper than its Western Digital predecessor WD Blue SSD internal 500 Go - SATA 6Gb/s 2.5", but delivers the same great results. Overall I'm very satisfied, unfortunately will this be the last upgrade I will be able to make this laptop (see system specs below) I recommend this SSD hard drive for any PC performance issues Specifications: HP Pavilion Notebook (June 2012) Operating System: Windows 10 Pro Processor : AMD X6 @ 1.40 GHz (4 cores) RAM: 8 GB (maximum capacity) HDD: 500 GB WD-Blue 3D NAND SSD (replaces original Segate 500 GB 5400 rpm SATA drive) Video: Graphics card AMD Radeon ( HDMI and VGA) Display: 1920 x 1080p 17.3-inch screen Internal LAN: 100MB Wi-Fi LAN: Intel Centrino/USB LB1 Internal dual-band dongle AC600 dual-band (5GHz) USB ports: 3 ports USB 2.0 ROM : DVD/CD burner
