Review on Ineo M.2 2280 SSD Rocket Heatsink with Internal Cooling Fan [M3] by Alex Jones

Very efficient M.2 cooler

Bought this cooler for a Samsung 980 Pro 500GB which in my case reached 77 degrees Celsius under load. I bought Thermal Grizzly thermal pads (each 1mm high) separately as manufacturers usually cut costs and use crappy cheap thermal pads that come with heatsinks. Together, the Thermal Grizzly pads and this heatsink resulted in a temperature drop of 33 degrees, from 77 under load to 44 under load. The heatsink is "tall", but fortunately the m.2 socket is right above the graphics card (at least on my MB), leaving a gap between the graphics card and the heatsink. The cooling fan has a RPM range of 1800-6800, the speed is adjustable, but not with PWM, it uses a DC fan control method. For me it has a speed of approx. 4200 rpm (constant) and is not audible at all, even if I open the case. However, it can be heard at maximum speed, like my x570 chipset fan (MSI x570 Ace), but it never reaches maximum speed. In general I am very satisfied with the purchase. It's expensive but very effective for cooling a high-speed Gen 4 m.2 SSD. Definitely recommend this purchase to anyone struggling with m.2 SSD high temperature. Edit: Since M.2 is right above the GPU on my machine, slightly higher when the GPU is hot. But still well below the standard passive heatsink.
