Review on πŸ’‘ XUNATA LED Strip Lights - High Density, Non-Waterproof 1200 LEDS, 16.4Ft - Warm White 3500K by Joseph Lang

Ok but be aware that the IP65 is covered in thick plastic and gets very hot!

Ordered because of the luminance. They have a lot more light per inch than a regular LED strip. Note that IP65 (and possibly IP67) lamps have a flexible coating to keep water out. I assumed some kind of cover but the description and photos don't explain anything. I am attaching a photo of the silicone coating. This doubles the thickness of the strip, and if you're going to cut and solder I didn't know how to remove the coating! I tried the glue side but the bottom layer is solid copper and doesn't expose the solder pads. I contacted the seller and he replied the same day. They explained that the "glue" should peel off easily where there are "cut" marks. Of course, if you can get your fingernail between the strip and the coating, it will come off cleanly (see photo). Glue is ok. At maximum illumination (12.0 VDC) they get very hot and the glue won't stick to the smooth plastic. Half bright they are cool enough for the glue to hold. My dimmer's voltage ranges from 6.9 to 11.75 VDC so it's safe to be within the rated voltage range. If you don't have a dimmer and supply 12V DC these bulbs will get very hot! Another reviewer reported the uncoated version overheating the same way, so I won't try that.
