Review on Chemical Guys TVD_108_16 Plastic Rubber by James Mayfield

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good product for dressing up, not good for recovering from an overconfident enterprise. There are alternatives. This one lasts quite a long time

I bought this product for my car as tire gel and also to restore my girlfriend's black plastic SUV bumpers. First, it's very easy to apply (foam pad and little dots, work on it as you go). Gives the surface a good shine. But then don't feel dry. I usually wipe it down afterwards with a dirty, used microfiber cloth to remove excess product and add shine. Longevity: Lasts longer on splints than any other splint bandage I've used. (I've used Turtle Wax, Meguiars, and Mothers in the past). I would say it stays clean and shiny for a good 2-3 weeks. It also lasted a long time in the configuration of an SUV, maybe 1-2 months with good looks. Then you have to reapply (which I did today). Rainy days shorten this time somewhat. Bandage: I didn't notice the bandage on the tires. Please note this is an oil based dressing. Oil-based dressings are said to be better than silicone-based, but worse than water-based. If you find another water-based product with good reviews, give it a try. Restoration: It does not work wonders in restoring surfaces. When the product fades, the finish is as faded as before. I wouldn't expect miracles if that's what you're looking for. It takes a lot more to recover plastic. Last word for chemists. I've been a huge fan of theirs since I started detailing. But lately I've noticed that they've gotten a little cocky. I'm gradually switching to other brands that do the same if not better with their products (Griot's Garage, Adams, Menzerna etc.). After a lot of research I found out that Carpro Perl is a great replacement for this product. http://www.amazon.com/CarPro-PERL-Plastic-Rubber-Protectant/dp/B004UM9V5Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1447035876&sr=8-2&keywords=carpro+perl I will buy Carpro Perl when I' I am ready. Which brings me to the lifespan of the product, it really lasts a long time. I've done 2 whole car bumpers and maybe 10 tire jobs and 90% of the product is still in the bottle. I hope you found this review helpful. In this case, please click on the link below.
