The drill has plenty of power and once you learn how to use it, it becomes quite controllable. It starts very slowly and goes to full power. Double rate is good. It has a 1/2" metal lining! However, there is a start-up delay that takes some getting used to and when screwing it into soft wood, the screws tear off the first time the clutch is adjusted! Not a bad buy for the do-it-yourselfer, certainly not a beginner's device, but a tool at a professional level .
