So I tested this thermostat as well as the Subaru OEM thermostat. While it says here it opens at 170, it actually didn't open until around 190, which is what Subaru's OEM thermostat did. For anyone who keeps hearing that you need an OEM (three times the price), I wouldn't believe it. The. They both look exactly the same, open up and behave the same in boiling water, so maybe one lasts longer than the other? I don't have this information. I just changed a Subaru OEM thermostat with 7 years and 71324 miles on it. I had no problems, just a maintenance item. Maybe others can post how long they've been in their cars.
