I think there is a learning curve. He sharpened some large knives in combination with another sharpener I have. It took a while to get the blade angle where it should be, after that it seems to work fine. The main thing I found was that after sharpening I had to rest the blade on the ceramic to get a nice smooth edge. Overall I'm happy with it and I think the more I use it the better I get at it. The thick blade seemed to have a small scratch on the coating. With a very curved blade, I had to drag the tool across the blade instead of pulling the blade through. I think once you match the blade to the tool it will be just like the video! Long story short, I've spent more money on things that didn't work at all, so at least this tool actually works and I think it'll be fine in the long run. Terry G
