I have used liner gloves (smartwool nts250) in the past and they are much thicker and have a rougher feel. But they're also a bit cheaper and probably warmer (winter isn't over yet, not sure). They fit larger gloves than my other pads and add volume to your hands. As gloves I would use them when I need dexterity and due to their bulk I can't wear smartwool+glove liners but when it's not cold enough to need smartwool+glove liners. And when it gets really cold, they replace the smart wool lining with thicker gloves.
