Ink leaks from a hole that was covered with a pull tab, the printer does not recognize it

I removed the plastic pull tab as instructed and installed these cartridges in my printer. First, the printer did not recognize these cartridges. Finally, after about 20 re-inserts, my printer ONLY recognized black and magenta. The printer never recognized yellow and blue. Second, the ink leaked out of a hole covered with a plastic tab that the instructions said should be removed.
