I bought them for myself, not for a child. I wanted to wear double pierced ears but the backs of the ear hooks bothered me when they pressed against my neck at night and I didn't want to take them off every day. Also, for some reason my double piercing with nickel irritation bothered me more than a regular ear piercing. Anyway, my niece had baby earrings for the same reason, so I decided to give it a try. What a blessing! They were harder to put on than regular earrings, which drove me crazy. The racks are a bit thicker which is a bit odd as they are sold for babies but I persevered and found I would never pull them out once they were in. look, they are so extremely comfortable! I can sleep with nothing touching my neck, I don't get irritated thanks to the high quality sterling silver and they look amazing! I have to say I was very surprised at the size - they seem big to me, I mean a little bigger than I wanted (gem part) so they would be very big for a child. I like them now that I'm used to them, but I think they would be very big for a child. In any case, they are beautiful and worth the money! I would definitely buy them again!
