Review on πŸ–ŠοΈ Effortless Precision: X-ACTO 1178 Bulldog Vacuum Mount Manual Pencil Sharpener – Assorted Colors by Denise Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sharpen all the colored pencils I have super sharp. My favorite sharpener so far.

I have Prismacolor Premier, Faber Castell Polychromos, all 3 sets of Black Widow pencils (Black Widow, Scorpion and Cobra), Staedler, Artist Loft and Marco Raffine colored pencils . I can easily sharpen any note to an extremely sharp point. I have tried several manual and electric sharpeners. This X-Acto Bulldog does a great job. I have an Alvin brass sharpener to use when the pencils get too short. You can buy a set of Cosmos 3 extensions for the shortest pins. With the X-Acto sharpening the pencils in a quick turn or two, and using the sharpener when the pencils aren't long enough for the X-Acto, I waste very little pencil points. The pull doesn't last long. I usually sharpen 2-3 pencils and then re-suction. I have found that screw sharpeners work best. I think it's good that I don't have to mount it somewhere all the time. I paint in my family, on the patio and sometimes even in bed. I can take it anywhere. I used to take some pens and coloring books with me on vacation. I'll definitely bring that with me. It's light and not too big. The only thing I would warn you about is how quickly this will sharpen your pencils. I have found that 1-2 turns make the pencil very sharp. If your pin is all the way down I would say you should check it after 3-4 turns. You'll be amazed at how quickly it sharpens your pencils. I actually bought this to replace the X-Acto I bought over a year ago. This had to be permanently installed; but I just kept it in place and used it. So I really appreciate the suction power it keeps on my end table or bedside table. It's also much quieter than electric sharpeners.

Pros
