Review on 🌧️ Stay Dry and Comfortable with the Columbia Men's Whirlibird IV Interchange Jacket - Waterproof & Breathable by Troy Jennings

I have ordered this jacket and tried on Helly Hansen, North Face, REI and Mountain Hardware. It was the cheapest coat on the market and the features (vents, warmth of the zip lining, quality stitching) are really good for the price. The only jacket that was significantly better suited for mountaineering was the Mountain Hardware model, which had an MSRP of more than double the Columbia 3-in-1 jacket. The neckline is wider than expected. I'm 6ft 1in 215cm and this jacket is too big for me. *** updated after a few days on the slopes *** demoted from 4 to 3. Here are the issues/problems I had with this jacket. :1) The sleeves are not long enough. I found myself adjusting my cuffs after every run. This jacket could be greatly improved by a different cut - it should be less boxy in the body and longer in the sleeves. 2) The inner thermal layer does not adhere particularly well to the shell, causing uncomfortable creases. The inner lining should be significantly thinner on both the torso and the arms. 3) It is not possible to use a powder skirt when the liner is zipped. You can open the shell, attach the powder skirt, and then zip up the outer shell, but that seems like a pretty significant design flaw. 4) At low temperatures, both main zippers fail. As other reviewers have pointed out, Columbia really needs an update to this jacket's zippers. 5) In the rain, the shell stayed waterproof for more than an hour, but the sleeves started absorbing water after about two hours. The seams are not sealed or waterproof (unexpected at this price point). PROS: This jacket has kept me warm enough in a variety of conditions. 34 degrees and sunshine: The inner layer came off pretty quickly because the thermal layer was really TOO warm. I'm comfortable in an outer shell with a thin sweater until the temperature drops well below freezing. 8 degrees in the wind: With a thin layer of wool under the lining and shell, I was warm enough even during the ascent.
