Overall I like the product although I think the cutting blades could be longer to really get into ingrown toenails. The 3 star rating is due to the lack of instructions on how to use the spring arms. I tried several ways and couldn't get the spring function to work. By spring action I mean opening the spring when you trim your nails to allow the blades to stay open or pop open. The device itself has two internal levers that are used for the spring function, but mine don't work properly. Maybe user error, maybe a defective device. I liked the additional toenail lifting tool that is separate from the main unit. Overall they did the job but it wasn't as easy as I had hoped or experienced with other toenail clippers.
