Great stones but the lids are cheaper

I bought one of the soft stones many years ago and really appreciated its size and performance. That's really all I need in the kitchen to sharpen our knives. I've done some serious blade restorations with it, I've sharpened fish hooks with it, love it. I've only ever used it with water or saliva as I figured I'd never be without one or the other and it worked well although I can try the oil now. I have nothing but good things to say about the stone and when I accidentally dropped it on the ceramic floor and it broke I immediately went to Amazon and purchased this set. I need to find a way not to mix up the stones. We'll see, but it might not be such a big deal once I start using them and find out. I would like to comment on the leather case that comes with them. As you can see from the photo, the old cover is much thicker on top than the new one on the bottom. Not much as I didn't buy them for the cover but it's disappointing. In the field I used this old coating as a sling and this thickness was just right for that. Also, due to the fragility of thinner skin, I'm more worried about the stone slipping out. I'm glad I kept the old case so at least my soft stone still has a decent finish.
