Review on 🍲 Cuisinart 13-Piece Cast Iron Fondue Set in Elegant White: Perfect for Entertaining and Indulging by Barry Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Despite some quality control issues, I like this device. UPDATE: Bought a second one

Before purchasing this set I compared it to others that Revain currently offer (and they are eligible for Prime shipping). I quickly gave up electric for two reasons. (1) Short cords are a common complaint and I didn't want to tug on an extension cord every time or risk someone tripping over it, and (2) I find it more universal not to have electricity nearby - We can do this unit take it anywhere! Looking at different brands, models, and manufacturers, I immediately noticed a wide price range - from $15 to $133 - putting this device at the bottom of even the mid-range devices. albeit cast iron. I cook a lot in cast iron and appreciate its even heat, heat retention and durability. The enamel coating is a nice touch as it makes cleaning easier and quicker. The only parts in this kit that I find "easy" are the forks themselves (they're not bad, but not fantastic) and the snuff piece (not that big of a deal). Everything else is of good quality. The stand is reliable and doesn't wobble (unlike some other manufacturers, judging by the reviews), which is a big plus for me. In terms of quality control, I read the reviews and knew that several people had received damaged units (apparently one arrived with a bent stand and another with a broken lid). Since there were so few complaints, I placed my order and scheduled a "fondue night". Unfortunately, my device also arrived damaged. It has a healthy chip on the enamel near the edge of the lid. As I couldn't easily change the plan I couldn't return the item for a refund so I'll live with the chip. Considering the price paid I'm still very happy with my purchase and am considering buying a second one so we can serve meat fondue (meat cooked in broth) along with cheese for dinner. I'm also considering spare stoneware pots so we can have chocolate fondue for dessert without having to wait for the pot to cool and wash out before serving the last course. It would be nice if we could just swap pots. This durable block will last a long time. If I have any further issues with the enamel finish I will definitely update this review. I also bought this: Sterno 2.6 oz Entertainment Cooking Fuel, 3 packs at a time for a heat source. Cheese. This time I ordered a white one: Cuisinart FP-115WS 13 Piece Cast Iron Fondue Set, White.
