Review on Ineo M.2 2280 SSD Rocket Heatsink with Internal Cooling Fan [M3] by Ryan Cross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exceeds expectations; Be careful where to mount it

I had three things I was skeptical about about this product: 1) Build quality 2) Proper installation in PC* 3) Great improvement in cooling (for Samsung 970 EVO) Plus 1TB) It was good in all respects and exceeded the promises in terms of cooling performance. Build Quality: The heat pipes are visible and look like real heat pipes, not fake. I did not see any flaws in the finish or installation of the components of the fully assembled product. my sound card if I hadn't moved it to a PCIe 2 slot. If I wanted to use this cooler in my M.2_1 slot (where the bootable SSD is installed), it wouldn't fit under my GPU in the PCIe 1 Cooling performance: My PC is a Fractal Design Define R6 case which is well ventilated and uses 3 x 140mm Noctua NF-A14 fans for suction with an aggressive fan curve. Before that, my Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB was 49°C idle and 70°C under load. After installing this cooler, it now runs at 30°C idle/45°C under load at around 20-40% fan speed (motherboard limits fans to CPU or motherboard only; I chose CPU). With a more aggressive fan curve (approx. 65% rpm) it was 27 °C idle / 36 °C under load. Noise: Fan noise is negligible compared to the installed 140mm and 120mm case fans, although my NAS (with all 8x HDD buffers and 2x 120mm fans) is still louder than my computer.

Pros
  • Fan and Cooling
Cons
  • Interchangeable
