I'm an analogue camera enthusiast who loves the simplicity of my old handheld Pentax SLR. After being frustrated at having trouble finding decent film and developing film, and recently borrowing my wife's digital camera for a trip abroad, I've learned to appreciate instant feedback on the success or failure of photos taken. So I gritted my teeth when I came back and received a Pentax K-50 camera kit with DA L 18-55mm WR f3.5-5.6 and 50-200mm WR lenses. I enlisted the help of my son who is studying photography in college to help me navigate the camera. The instruction manual for the analogue man was cumbersome and confusing for me, for someone who is familiar with the digital world like my son, it was more understandable. So far I'm happy with the pictures I've taken so far. The autofocus is a bit slow and not suitable for fast shots. I just took some pictures of the blood moon during a total solar eclipse and found that the autofocus won't want to focus on the moon at infinity. The 200mm lens was not enough for the moon to fill the frame. I plan on getting a fixed telephoto lens to take those long shots. The exposure in auto mode was constantly underexposing the moon, so I switched to "B" mode, counted two seconds and got a good exposure. Immediate feedback from the digital monitor on the back let me know if I got the shot. The auto exposure mode works well in daylight, shade, and indoor lighting. I like that the diopter adjustment on the eyepiece allows me to shoot without glasses, I have a full view through the lens and I can see all the digital information in the eyepiece that I couldn't see with my glasses. The pop-up flash is only suitable for close-up photography (< 3 meters). I use my old detachable flash for flash photography over 3 meters (10 feet). I'm learning the intricacies of the world of digital photography and I'll eventually crawl out of my cave, but when I die you'll have to take my hand off my cheap, reliable flip phone. The weather protection is good, I've worn it in the rain before. I would contact the seller again.
