Review on πŸ”Œ 1ft Toptekits Short US Power Extension Cord - US AC 2-Prong Male/Female Cable by Gary Shakeone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

good cord; polarization error.

I received my cord in the mail today. It works just fine! The maximum length of my cable from end to end (male to male) is exactly 13.25 inches, close enough in my opinion. As already mentioned, the polarization of the plugs is not compatible. The end is polarized while the male end is not. Don't even ask me why they chose this, but it is what it is. I knew of this fact in advance, so no star deduction here either. Simple tip for those who are unhappy with the polarization problem. I just took my multimeter and set it to check audio continuity. Insert a prong of your multimeter into one of the sockets on the female end and touch the other prong to disconnect either male end. If it beeps or not, you know which is which. Just take a marker, tape or sticker and somehow determine which end corresponds to a thin or wide polarized plug. Voila! This isn't rocket science. Then you maintain a constant polarization throughout your chain of household cords, extension cords and whatever you have connected to their end. Just! I gave it five stars for the cable being advertised correctly and the cable appears to be of decent quality despite the polarization error I was aware of beforehand. If you want a simple ungrounded AC patch cord I would recommend this.

Pros
  • Can be used as an extension cord for Christmas lights or as a TV power cord. Very useful when you need to connect multiple power supplies to a small UPS or power strip and their shape causes them to collide or block access to other outlets. Extend the power cord AND keep the UPS and outlets clear
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
