Beautiful and Functional (Follow Care Instructions)

I love these coasters. We have two sets at our lake house. I was initially apprehensive about buying them after reading reviews that the wood would curl or warp after use (not for as long as I recall). Before spending my money on it, I called Nambe's customer service and asked if it was for everyday use or for decoration (which I find ridiculous). Mentioned the negative comments I read. She said that as long as I follow the original care instructions PRIOR to use, they will last for years and years of everyday use. Her instructions, which she said were included with the coasters, were to rub mineral oil on them, leave for an hour or two, and then wipe off. Apparently this isolates the wood from what is being done during production. Another word of advice (if you're as dumb as I am about this product): don't bother looking at Lowe's or Home Depot for mineral oil. Go to your local pharmacy (yes!). It turns out that this is a remedy for the gastrointestinal tract. So you will find it here. It also doesn't hurt to use a little common sense, e.g. B. Wipe them after use if there is condensation on the wood. Our experience so far is that after a few months these coasters are amazing in design and function and still look brand new. I will most likely repeat the mineral oil cure every year - that's no problem.
