This is a hard stone that will give any knife a good edge. The "working edge" is the key. Don't expect 1000 grit to give you razor sharp hair edges, but this stone will make them sharp as hell. I use this to get my blades sharp and profiled quickly, from standard stainless steel kitchen knives to pocket knives made from premium super steel, the center side of this stone will re-profile most dents and the like on a severely dull blade, but the thin side gets a good one working edge on everything. Then with a good set of sharp edges to shave sharp edges I take them to 2000/5000 water stone to polish them even better.
