Convenience comes at a (high) price

If you have hundreds of feet of baseboards, stairs, window sills, shelves, etc. this could be for you. In these applications it works perfectly for me. You can get the job done really quickly if you don't have to deal with a huge machine, huge hose and cord. On the other hand, it does not work on any carpeted floor. On hard floors, it's mediocre at best. sucking sucks There are three speeds, the slower two of which are useless. At high speed you will discharge two (very expensive) batteries in 30-40 minutes. If you want to increase the operating time, you need to buy additional batteries. Make sure you buy genuine Makita 5Ah batteries - there are many fake ones out there. Look around and you can find them for around $150 a pair. Another annoyance: none of your standard vacuums will fit inside. Makita made it their mission to create a completely incompatible hose/tool size. You might be lucky enough to find an adapter to fix this nonsense at your local vacuum shop/sewing center like I did. I find the paper dust bag (order extras) and the post-filter positive. They seem to be doing a pretty good job of not fanning out the dirt. Access is easy but difficult. Do not press on the clip, it slides out from the back. The tools provided are ok but limited. There is no dust brush and if you want to use one you will need the adapter mentioned above. It is quite light and comfortable for the back. They did a pretty good job designing the backpack straps. All in all I would probably buy it again because it's so damn comfortable. Don't be surprised you can cut those pesky, hard-to-reach spots by more than half.
