Review on πŸ”Œ Rankie USB Network Adapter, USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 Internet Adapter (Black) by Darryl Jennings

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works very well, but you may need to check the operating system if you encounter problems.

I bought 2 of these cables. Put one on my Linux Mint system, just plug and play and it worked great. So 5 stars. I wasn't expecting any issues with my 64-bit Windows 10 system, but unfortunately it took more work. Please note that I'm not computer savvy and had to do a lot of research before I came across a solution. On my HP Pavilion G6 2249 I had to enable the NIC to read it correctly in the BIOS. Then I went into the properties of the network adapter in Windows and in the speed settings allowed the maximum speed and everything became normal. So I suspect that some of the problems are probably related to the setup of the particular computer and not the adapter. Especially if there is Windows on the computer because. Out of the box it seems that they have limited full functionality. By the way, my Linux used to be Windows 7 64-bit before I switched OS.

Pros
  • Note: Not compatible with Nintendo Switch. The portable USB to Ethernet adapter connects a USB 3.0 (backwards compatible to USB 2.0) equipped computer or tablet to a router, modem or network switch to connect Gigabit Ethernet to a network connection; Cat6 ethernet cable recommended (sold separately)
Cons
