The instructions on the box were perfect except for what I would add by turning off the water valve for the filter and when removing a small container under the humidifier The canister I have, there fell a lot of water, I'm not sure I didn't wait for the drain, but I'll be ready next time. Very easy to replace, on a scale of 1 to 10 for a handyman it's about 2, a little more than an oil filter in a car. There was a ton of sand in my drain pile that needed cleaning, I don't know where it came from but I used a vacuum to remove it. The old filter looked awful, I'm glad I changed it. My only wish is that these filters are a little cheaper. I only had enough for 3/4 of the heating season. Of course the winter of 2013/2014 was colder than usual. Just changed my 3rd, over the years, MAKE SURE to unplug the unit after it runs out of power, make sure the unit is not powered, I use a glasses screwdriver to pry the red gasket prying out at the bottom of the holder now it takes me less than 5 minutes to swap out anyone with a screwdriver can do it don't get ripped off my HVAC required $75 for this after the unit failed make sure you put it next to a garbage bag don't make a mistake lamo I just made and carried the old one through the house to the garbage dripping on the floor. On top of the wires I put a piece of blue tape, one on the right hand side so I know that's where it always goes, the red one in the middle is the only place it's so really easy to replace, I suppose few paper towels and wipe it off the bottom of the black hole in the canister pr make sure everything is clean and a small flashlight is good,
