I love to eat oysters and have wanted to learn how to shell them for years. I bought this set to finally get it done (after watching peelable food and cooking videos on the Serious Eats website). I've since added 2 other types of oyster knives, but this set is my favorite - the knife hooks are more likely to break and split the shells so it works better on the more fragile thin shells, and its thickness and strength make it an excellent lever for huge ones Opening Delaware grenades (if I have to use real force on a huge projectile, I'm not afraid that the blade of this knife might break). I've never slipped with a knife, but I always put on a protective glove on my left hand (with an oyster) and feel safe. Highly recommend especially if you are new to oyster fishing.
