Review on πŸ‹οΈ Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Fitness Tracker: Upgraded with 1.1" Color AMOLED Display & Black Sport Band by Mark Bishop

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Upgrading from original to Mi Band 5 is actually a downgrade

I've had an original MI strap for many years. Absolutely perfect for my needs. But finally it's time for an upgrade. As you can see from my pictures, the upgrade is more like a downgrade. When I put it around my ankle it looks like a prisoner tracking bracelet. The gap on it is huge, as you can see in the photo. It's heavier than the original. The band clings to your skin while the original band slides better to move with you rather than create resistance as you move. Hooking it up was as easy as plugging in the original. I already had the apps, so I didn't have to do anything with the settings. It arrived with 15% battery. So just enough to plug it in and then charge it. It would be nice to have a full charge, but you know, they should save the pennies it would cost to fully charge them. The magnetic charger is good. But I prefer the old style. It's easier to remove and replace than a strap, but they try too hard to be more fashionable than functional. The strap doesn't even come with a single screen protector. He should have come with one. Now I have to be extra careful with it as the screen may break or scratch before I can order and receive the screen protector. The original had no screen and it was almost impossible to damage it. Overall I gave 3 stars. This is a good fitness tracker and you can't beat the price. But an "upgrade" is like a downgrade. My biggest disappointment is the huge gap between my wrist and the bracelet because they have grown too big.
