Purchased 4" x 5" 150W OPF on 25th January 2019. I installed this heater last week. Installing this heater took about an hour and a half as I had to drive the front of my 4x4 up ramps to give me the handroom I needed to grind the front end of the oil pan to metal to install this. Heating. Also to run a cable along the mounting frame to my truck's front grill so I can use a 12 gauge 15 foot extension cable when my truck was parked outside. I decided to install this heater a few nights ago which should be. 20s to teens. The next morning I got up around 3am to turn on the heating before going to work at 5:30am. Before I started my truck I put some cardboard on the snow to check the oil pan temperature with my laser thermometer, just out of curiosity, the reading was 146 F. which surprised me. The start was very good and the heater in my truck cab was blowing warm air in less than five minutes. Without a sump heater it takes at least 10 minutes for it to heat up, plus it's always a hassle to start and sometimes I have to plug in the charger. I'm at the foot of the Canadian Rocky Mountains on the American side. So the next morning I did the same thing again, but this time the temperature of the laser gun was 117 F and the start and heat of my truck was about the same. Later that evening I had to go shopping so I turned on the heater because the sun had gone down and four inches of snow had fallen since I got home. About an hour later I tried to start my truck and it struggled as usual in really cold weather before I installed the sump heater. So I stopped trying to start my truck, checked the oil pan temperature and found it was the same as it was outside in the low twenty degrees Celsius. So it looks like this oil pan heater died after a few uses. it, so I will now return it for a refund or replacement. The company replaced it with no problem, give me a new one in a few days. And that's when I need a well-functioning oil heater of this type. At least now I know the installation process, and this time it should be quicker. Thanks for the quick service guys. update date. 03/22/2019 A few weeks ago I noticed that the rubber sheathing of the cables in front of the oil pan heater fitting was coming loose. This means that the rubber coating covering the wire just before the connector head is gone is gone, along with the extra rubber that gives that area extra strength. To say the least, very glad I wasn't shocked by the outlet or turning off the heating on a really dark morning. It must have been the thick gloves that protected me. All sections of the exposed cables were green with corrosion, and it hadn't rained in the past month, only snowed. Maybe the temp here dropped to 9-1 degrees Fahrenheit in a good week, or because of poor quality control, or because of the really small wires used for that 1500 watt heater. Never had a problem plugging or unplugging this heater, both steps have always been smooth. Anyway I just cut off the old connector head and replaced it with an old 12 gauge three prong extension I had lying around, soldered the wires together, grounded and used some good tape. So far so good, just happy, nothing serious came of it!
