Review on Banana Boat Tear Free Sting Free Sunscreen by Scott Maddocks

Do not use Banana Boat products. They cause severe chemical burns and allergic reactions. My 11 year old daughter used Banana Boat Kids Sports Lotion on her face. The next day, the places where she applied this lotion became very red, swollen and painful. She was immediately seen by a doctor who prescribed the steroids Benadryl and Prednisone. Her condition continued to deteriorate and she was admitted to the emergency room two days later. There she received large doses of intravenous prednisolone and intravenous benedryl. Doctors diagnosed the reaction as "chemical allergic contact dermatitis." The reaction lasted for several weeks and she couldn't go out in the sun at all during that time, so she spent July at home. It was also very painful and she cried every day from the pain. The experience was incredibly sad and scary and we worried it would leave scars. No child should experience such pain and suffering, especially when using a product designed to help them. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case and other parents have reported similar reactions to Banana Boat products.
