Disgusting Dirty Water - Check Kettle

4 months after buying this kettle we noticed dark "flakes" in the boiled water. We wiped the inside with a paper towel and were shocked to find a disgusting thick dark brown coating. To make sure our tap water wasn't to blame, we boiled the water three times in a LeCruset kettle and in a stainless steel "control" pot. Result? Rubbing the test cup produced a clear paper towel. The LeCruset kettle again gave off an unpleasant dark residue. We don't know how long the darkness inside the kettle and the fact that we used the water primarily for tea masked the LeCruset water pollution. If we hadn't filled a clear glass with water, we probably would have continued to swallow the dark brown material (paint? rust? both?). The realization that we drank it every time we boiled water in that kettle makes us a) disgusted, b) surprised: has LeCrese lost his sense of honor and decency? Have they, like so many companies before them, succumbed to a bottom line business philosophy that puts quality and brand name behind profit maximization and CEO bonuses? We've spent hundreds of dollars on LeCruset cookware and have come to trust and respect the name. No longer. After investigating the issue online, we found similar reports from other sufferers who had purchased this kettle. Ashamed LeCruset for putting people's health at risk... Not for your CEO or managers to read or care! We recommend everyone to check their LeCruset kettle every 2-3 months. Maybe a class action lawsuit is brewing.
