As previously mentioned, the tine surface is very rough and ribbed, making it difficult to pull the skin without damaging the iron or leather. They were sharp and went into skin very easily, but I almost tore the watch strap I was trying to make by pulling the iron out of the leather. I suppose if you have the tools and skills you can polish them enough to make them useful, but unfortunately I cannot and do not recommend these tools.
