Whilst I hope it was just us, other reviews don't seem to be the case. We were given towels and they were in a sealed plastic bag. The first thing I noticed was that the towels didn't look like the picture, they were the right color, however they were a lot thinner than the picture would suggest. The ad says they're soft, but I'll tell you they're rough enough to compete with sandpaper for the bucks. I was looking for very soft towels as I never had a chance to enjoy them, well they weren't the ones I liked. I returned them and bought some towels in B, B and B and the Egyptian cotton towels are much softer than them. Didn't get a chance to check if the paint was running off the towels.
