Multiple ABS sensors on my VW Jetta started shutting down at the same time. Luckily I was able to spot this early as I drive with a BlueDriver OBD2 scanner. I neglected to swap them out until one day the red brake light and EPC light came on along with the ABS, traction control and airbag lights I already had. At this point the car starts but stalls when the gear is engaged. I rescanned the computer and now it had codes for every module in the car. I have found that ABS, traction control, airbags and electronic throttle body all work together. So if your ABS sensors fail on your VW/Audi, replace them ASAP or risk the EPC error making the car uncontrollable. After replacing all 4 sensors all codes were gone. I've read of people replacing all sorts of parts, trying to diagnose the codes that subsequently appear when your ABS sensors go bad, and swearing they'll never buy a VW again if they're unlucky. If you have an ABS wheel speed sensor code hidden among a bunch of other codes, change those first.
