When I first unwrapped them I was surprised at how sticky they felt on my hand. No tape but super sticky. I installed six of these on the sides of my rug after vacuuming the floor and a lint roller on the underside of the rug itself. (I also threw away the utterly useless rug I had underneath). When I tried it for the first time, the carpet slipped. I was sure it wouldn't work and I would come home with a crooked or rolled up carpet. Surprise! These little kids snuggled right up against the hardwood floors, and now their tenacity is on full display. I have roommates, dogs, even today there was a craftsman, and as a rule, the carpet slips or creases without fail. Not today! I will be buying half a dozen more for bathrooms and other rugs! I can't tell you how they hold up in the wash, but if you're skeptical at first, just give them a chance to calm down!
