Not a beginner's board for the average "cook "

When you buy this board, you'll make it Do better your homework and understand how to take care of your cutting board. Do not buy this as a gift for someone who doesn't know how to handle a bare cutting board and has never heard of oiling a cutting board. If you want to learn how to maintain this board with minimal care, read Kitchen Care Basics with Babish. All the negative reviews and photos I see are grey, damn dry boards that haven't had the slightest bit of maintenance. This board comes dry out of the box. You MUST coat it with food-grade minerals before using it, and you MUST buy Blockboard Cream The Boo (because that stuff rocks). You SHOULD buy a cheap random orbital sander to polish knife cuts from time to time. No, you cannot wash a board in the dishwasher, soak it in water and expect it not to crack. If your board is cracked because you don't understand how/or don't want to take care of it, save yourself the hassle and buy a cheap OXO plastic cutting board. However, this review loses an asterisk if the board forms or splits within the next 3 years. If the stars haven't fallen, the board is still in good condition.
